Marchelle (Max) Gage of Gage Training & Consulting has been in the arena of helping people improve their performance and building their knowledge base for over 16 years. Starting her training and development in career with one of the Fortune 500 publishing companies, she discovered strengths in facilitation skills and empathy for the learner, which allowed her to relate well with each training participant, and communicate a message to ensure learning, took place.

These skills continued to grow as she moved into other learning and development positions, in particular the financial services industry.  Here she worked with employees around their sales skills, including their customer service competency as well as their presentation skills.

Though the delivery of programs was her main focus, she also drew upon her experience with assessment, design, development, and evaluation in these roles, as well as positions  to come.  Working for a company responsible for the creation of training videos, books, and ancillary materials to support the efforts of learning in many different industries, and professions, she had a chance to help create those tools that she had used herself in her own training sessions.

In 1997, Gage started her own consulting business, based in Des Moines.  Her prior background served her well, as she focused on fine tuning her facilitation skills to ensure that learning objectives were met, in a learner focused environment.

Clients in her practice, have included Wellmark, Wells Fargo, DuPont Pioneer, John Deere, John Deere Credit, Allied Insurance, American Republic Insurance, MidAmerican Energy, Iowa Health Systems, Des Moines University, The Members Group, Simpson College, Children and Families of Iowa, City of Ames—Iowa, and others.  Gage has also been a part of the adjunct staff of Drake University for several years, where she taught Methods and Technologies of Facilitation in the Masters of Science--Adult Learning and Performance Development program.

Gage appreciates the adult learner and what they bring to the training session.  She draws upon their experience and helps them reflect and build on their base of knowledge as they look at methods to better their leadership and communication skills.
